Our Commitment to The Sanctuary
Our focus is to protect the natural environment, honour the Sanctuary’s history and foster community involvement for generations to come.
We aim to:

- honour the history and significance of the site
- promote community involvement and enjoyment of the reserve
These goals guide all decisions made by the Foote Sanctuary Association and the volunteers who care for the land.
Proposed Environmental Information Centre
A new purpose-built Environmental Information Centre is proposed for the Sanctuary precinct. The building would support volunteer operations, provide educational spaces and enhance visitor facilities.

Management and Conservation Strategy
The Foote Sanctuary Management and Friends group operates under Sunshine Coast Council’s Environment and Liveability Strategy and the Bushcare program. As a volunteer-led organisation, we work across the full spectrum of conservation needs, from habitat restoration to community engagement.
Several factors influence our strategies, including ecological priorities, community involvement, funding from government and local organisations and long-term environmental goals.
To manage the Sanctuary effectively, the land has been divided into eight management zones. Each zone identifies and prioritises issues for action and reports to the Management Committee, which works closely with Council.
Our long-term vision is to restore the area’s original ecosystems by removing invasive species and replanting local provenance plants. Over time, these regenerated habitats will support and encourage the return of native wildlife that once thrived here.
