Nature & Wildlife at Foote Sanctuary
The Foote Sanctuary is a haven of biodiversity, boasting over 270 native flora species and 100 bird species, alongside various mammals and butterflies.

When the Foote Sanctuary Association started, the land, previously cleared for farming, was in some areas an impenetrable tangle of invasive species. The work to regenerate the land with species indigenous to the area first required thorough research to find out what was indigenous to the area. Finding seeds and seedlings for these plants in the 70s wasn't easy.

Understanding Invasive Species and Conservation Efforts
Work continues to remove invasive species from the Sanctuary in order to let those native plants seed, grow and thrive.
Native Flora & Fauna
